Safety At Our Funfair

Perks Fun Fair are members of The Irish Showman's Guild. The Showman's Guild work's closely with the Health & Safety Executive and has set a standard of maintenance and operation for all Rides & Amusement's.

All Rides & Amusement's have to be tested each year. This has to be done by an independent engineer who is allocated the task by the Health & Safety Executive and The Showman's Guild.

This is normally done at the start of the season as the engineer can then inspect any modifications and maintenance, which may have been done. The Engineer checks the whole ride and generator. All major rides also have an Ultrasonic Inspection every two years. If he is happy he issues the owner with a Test Certificate, Report Form (noting any faults), Ultrasonic Inspection Certificate (if applicable) and Electrical Test. He will then send a copy of this paper work to The Showman's Guild who keep a record of every ride.

All Ride's and Amusement's must have a current Insurance and Test Certificates to be allowed to operate. The Health & Safety Executive does random checks through out the year. All rides have a logbook of their maintenance schedule. This Log Book is set up for each type of ride and has to filled in every working day. The Perks family carries out nearly all our own maintenance. Normally one member of the family looks after one ride, he will be in charge of operating it, checking it, erecting and dismantling it, this way he knows the ride better than anyone.
